The Haworthia “Tsukikage” aka “Moon Shadow”, is a hybrid of the Haworthia bayeri and comptoniana. This succulent is prized for its elegance and intricate glass-like appearance.
Its compact structure forms a perfectly balanced, low-growing rosette of thick, triangular leaves in soft tones of smoky green to silvery jade. Its most stunning feature is the translucent tips etched with fine, shadowy veining that resembles delicate brushstrokes or ripples in frosted glass. When observed in bright, indirect light, these “windows” exhibit a subtle glow, giving the plant a luminous, almost ethereal presence. Its symmetry and muted palette make it especially appealing in modern, minimalist spaces, where its detail can be appreciated up close.
CARE:
- This plant does best with consistent bright, indirect sunlight. A few hours of MORNING sun is beneficial, and can acclimate to receive direct afternoon sunlight.
- It is completely normal for leaves to develop a red/purple tint with prolonged exposure to light and heat.
- Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, then give it a thorough drink.
- Avoid overwatering and ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogged soil, which can quickly lead to root rot.
- Avoid using heavy potting soils or soils that retain too much moisture, so opt for a well-draining, gritty potting media.
