Compact and bold, the "Spider Aloe" features spiky triangular leaves arranged in tight rosettes. Its leaves are adorned with soft spines along the edges and surfaces, giving it a textured, almost cobweb-like look, hence its name. The plant forms offsets or "pups" around the base, creating a clumping growth pattern. This Aloe looks great displayed on its own or as part of a succulent arrangement
CARE:
- This plant does best with consistent, bright, indirect light combined with a few hours of direct sun. While direct sunlight is beneficial while indoors, avoid prolonged exposure to intense direct afternoon sun if you're placing outdoors during peak summer months, as it can scorch leaves. To prevent sunburn, gradually acclimate your plant by slowly increasing its exposure to direct sunlight over time. This approach ensures your plant adapts safely to brighter and hotter conditions, reducing the risk of leaf damage.
- Providing the plant with consistent light helps maintain its compact form and prevents stretching. It is normal for the leaves to develop a purple/red hue with prolonged exposure to light.
- Aloe prefers a dry environment, so avoid placing this plant in a humid climate with your leafier tropical varieties
- Allow the soil to dry out between waterings to prevent overwatering and potential root rot. Aloes store water in its leaves, allowing it to tolerate drought periods. It should be watered thoroughly but infrequently
- When repotting, avoid using heavy potting soils or soils that retain too much moisture. Opt for a well-draining, gritty potting media.
